The Best of the Best in Canadian Alternatives – Winners Were Announced on 27th October

The fourth Canadian Hedge Fund Awards  — sponsored by KPMG and Kensington Capital's Hedge Fund division (formerly MANNA Asset Management) —  were announced at a Gala reception in KPMG's impressive offices on October 27th. See pictures HERE.

Barry Allan is the founding partner of Marret Asset Management Inc which has launched several hedge funds.  Barry’s High Yield hedge fund is a winner here tonight.
 
He has over 30 years of investment experience and has successfully operated in virtually all areas of the fixed income arena. Prior to founding Marret, Barry spent 6 years with Altamira Management where he managed a wide variety of fixed income portfolios.
 
In recent years he has personally played a prominent role in developing new products, that have enhanced the maturity of the whole Canadian hedge fund space, including:
 
1. The Accelerator Capital Fund – probably Canada’s first hedge fund incubator that represents the first time successful Canadian hedge fund managers have put money back into seeding and growing new Canadian hedge funds; and
2. The Marret Multi-Strategy Fund, that is an innovative combination of 4 different strategies – two of which (Waratah and East Coast Fund Management) are outside Marret – highlighting how Barry is, yet again, helping other hedge fund managers to get started and grow quickly.
